I just wanted to let you and your team know how much I appreciate the Spartan experience. I’ve never participated in a setting like this before. I’ve always ‘done my own thing’.  It’s really a great experience you and your team provide and it’s working for me.

As I mentioned early on, the simple reason I signed up for Spartan is to have my dress pants fit better and to look and feel better as well. I had stopped working out in month 6 of Jenise’s pregnancy with Beckum and 7 months after he was born I still wasn’t working out. That coupled with my full time COO job and leading a start up technology firm on the side had me thinking I didn’t have time to workout. Wrong!  At the end of the day, I realized it was a mental hurdle for me.

The night before the first day of class I had a pit in my stomach. I still get a little one on Sunday nights. Not sure what that’s about. I think I just get worried that I won’t be able to finish an exercise. My issue.

I think what I want you to know is that for me, Spartan extends beyond physical results.  It reminds me that I can do whatever I commit to. If you would have told me up front that I would have had to do that rowing machine in front of the class while everyone encouraged me I would have not bothered to show up. But it happened and I survived and it’s a great story!

So thank you for your passion for helping us all to improve in many ways!
